Two diaries covering three years. Hattie T. Morse was evidently a woman of some means who lived in Evansville, Illinois, outside of Chicago. For 1894 Morse had an entry for each day; for 1895 and 1896 she skipped some days. She records her daily life. Of some interest is the description of her sojourn at the Battle Creek Sanitarium under the care of Dr. John H. Kellogg in the spring and early summer of 1894.

In 1866, the Seventh-Day Adventists established the Health Reform Institute in Battle Creek, Mich.
